Yesterday I went to a webinar hosted by Dutchie, where they outlined their payment options in the short, medium, and long term.#
Short term, it's Jory. Our experience at High Hopes with Jory has been pretty mixed. Of course in this industry the bar is low, because of the sad state of regulations at the Federal level.#
Medium term, something called "Dutchie Payments" is coming. It's going to be integrated into the Dutchie checkout workflow, not as a web app or installed mobile app.#
Long term, it's something something SAFE Banking Act something credit cards -- I think unicorns and rainbows were involved too.#
Dutchie says that they have a great team working hard on Dutchie Payments, and we should expect to see beta testing soon and a release in "Early 2022."#
This may all be true! And yet it's also the classic "fear, uncertainty, and doubt" play.#
At High Hopes we are investigating alternatives to Jory: primarily CanPay and Paybotic. Unfortunately, Dutchie has made it clear they do not intend to integrate any more payment solutions into LeafLogix beyond what's there now: Jory and Canpay.#
So I'm feeling a little bit locked in the Dutchie trunk at this point. Something great is coming "real soon now," and we're going to have to live within the Dutchie payment ecosystem if we want to stick with LeafLogix.#
This is exactly the sort of problem that should properly be on my desk as the CTO, but I don't know what to do other than start looking at other parts of the ecosystem besides Dutchie and LeafLogix.#
